LNDT modernisation project focuses on rearranging the functionality of the existing building and extending theater’s performace capabilities with new extension with “black box” and studio performing halls elevated above the reception area of the backstage. The master plan of the LNDT concentrates on the logistics of the performance preparation with clear routing for delivery, stage preparation as well as actor creative spaces and offices. Both layout of the support functions and accoustic separation allows performances in 2 or 3 separate halls simultaniously. The unique modernist public spaces and are restored with minimal interventions. New stairs morph from the original lobby’s brick wall into minimal black interiors of the new extension highlighting the mysterious world of the backstage.
