The wooden apartment building in the Žvėrynas district of Vilnius was constructed in 1910 to a design by architect-engineer Anton Filipowicz-Dubownik. Originally comprising three apartments, access to the attic dwelling was provided via a wooden volumetric annex, while the ground-floor apartments had separate entrances from the courtyard through wooden porches. During the Soviet period, the building underwent alterations that modified its original layout and elements.
The project follows a conservation-led approach that preserves the building’s valuable features while respecting the principle that each era builds as modernly as possible for its time. Authentic and historically significant elements are conserved and highlighted, while new additions are clearly contemporary, reflecting the spirit of the present day.
